Catalogue Wingender-Knoedgen, Chokier

“Samples of pipes from the factory of Wingender-Knoedgen, No. 83 at Chokier, Liège.”

Catalogue of the firm Wingender-Knoedgen from Chokier. 17 pages with various pipe models, both with fixed stems and with detachable stems (stub stemmed or 'manchettes').

The name Knoedgen is associated with a pipe-making family of originally German origin. The same applies to the name Wingender. From the marriage between a member of the Knoedgen family and a member of the Wingender family, the firm W-K was ultimately established in Chokier, near Liège. This catalogue dates from circa 1850 and contains 17 pages with 145 illustrations of clay pipes. Whereas the German, Dutch, and French pipe industries each had their own characteristics and popular forms, the range offered by Wingender-Knoedgen represents a fine mixture of popular styles and designs from all surrounding countries.
